In the fall of 2002, Vision of Hope Ministries opened the doors of our Pre-K-Grade 13 school, College Susan Schuenke (CSS), for the first time. In the beginning, there were nearly 100 students. The motto for CSS is Ad Astra, or to the stars. At CSS, we are helping needy Haitian students reach for the stars by offering a solid Christian education that can help them break the cycle of poverty they are living in while making a lasting positive impact on the nation of Haiti.
College Susan Schuenke is recognized by Haiti’s Minstry of Education as one of the best schools in northern Haiti. CSS students typically receive high scores on the Haitian Education Ministry’s standardized tests. Many of our students have continued their education at the university level and have become doctors, nurses, and business leaders.
This school year we have close to 1000 students attending school at College Susan Schuenke. CSS seeks to minister to the educational, spiritual and physical needs of the students who attend school there. The students are studying Chemistry, Physics, Math, Spanish, French, Creole, English, History, Christian education, Writing, Reading, Health and Computers. All grades are included in the school. Often, there are older students in the lower grades because those students have been unable to attend school every year. Many of the students come from very poor families who sacrifice deeply in order to have their child attend school. Many students are only able to attend school thanks to the generous donations of our supporters. A year of solid Christian education costs $400. We need your help supporting one or more of our students. Thank you in advance for your support of these young Haitians!
