| Dear Friends of Haiti and VOHM: We want to keep you updated on the changes and news after the earthquake in Haiti. As we expected, the number of death and injuries continues to rise. As of August 23rd, there are 2500 deceased, 12,000 injured and many made homeless. The expectation is for these numbers to increase in the coming days. Lord, we ask that you have mercy on these, your people.Vision of Hope Ministries is partnering with Hosean International Ministries in responding to the August 14th earthquake in southern Haiti. Pastor Caleb Lucien, our Sr. Missionary, oversees both ministries.Our response will focus on supporting Haitian medical, engineering, search and rescue teams.Tuesday, August 24th, we began loading a container with tents, tarps, and medical supplies to be shipped from Ft. Lauderdale to Cap Haitian on route to Les Cayes. We will be sending water filters and setting up portable toilets. There will be a team of Haitian doctors that will head into remote areas with medical supplies. A structural engineer will be checking buildings for safety and construction supplies will be sent to help 5 families rebuild their homes. Our 60 day goal is to ship 2 containers with lumber and metal roofing as well as operating supplies and medicine in the amount of $10,000. We also plan to send food supplies in the amount of $7500.This will be an ongoing and long term response while we support Haitians helping Haitians. Haiti has suffered many sorrows in recent history, and as long as we are able, we will support and assist them. In the process, we hope to point them to the One who can and will meet all their needs-our Lord Jesus Christ.All funds we receive for disaster relief will be sent directly to Haiti for this response.
