Riding into Cap Haitian in 1994 with Pastor Henoc Lucien, I was struck by the sea of humanity struggling to make a life in Haiti. Henoc started a Bible study in one of the schools that year and the Cap Haitian Evangelical Free Church was planted. It was not easy, but we received a huge blessing from the EFCA women’s ministry, who raised over $200,000 so we could purchase the land, which our church and school now occupy.
Through these 30 years of growth, we have witnessed hurricanes, earthquakes, political instability, hunger, the opposing forces of Satan through spiritual and physical evil, and the death of our leader, Henoc Lucien. Through all this, Jesus transformed the lives of many souls who have become leaders in our churches, school, and community. So, we celebrate what God has done June 2nd and give Him all the praise and honor for this beacon in a dark city now led by Henoc’s brother, Pastor Caleb Lucien.
We look forward to what God will do in the next 30 years with the churches and school of Vision of Hope Ministries. Enjoy the sweet worship and praise in the following photos from this celebration.
Blessings to you,Greg Schuenke, President VOHM
