We rejoice this Christmas Season as we remember the new beginning the Savior Jesus Christ came to give to all those who believe. Mary and Joseph endured many hardships to bring the King into this world. Hardship visits us all at some point in our lives; this is especially true for those in Haiti. Endurance is the word that has occupied my mind this year as I hear of the very difficult season of poverty, fear, instability, and death the Haitian people must endure in and around the capital of Haiti. We are thankful, however, that the anarchy that rules in Port-au-Prince is held at bay for Northern Haiti and Cap Haitian.Read and rejoice at the endurance of our VOHM Haitian family as they press on in hope for the upward call of Christ |
Eglise Evangélique Libre du Cap-Haitian celebrated its 30-year anniversary this June. I am encouraged that this church STANDS and thrives in the face of hardship. Pastor Caleb Lucien provides strong leadership for the congregation of 800. |
Eglise Evangélique Libre de Bérard celebrated its 25-year anniversary this October. This church was built through the perseverance and support of many churches in the USA who came to Haiti to build. Pastor Sainsoir Georges is their faithful leader since the founding of the church. |

Henoc Lucien’s wife Guerline continues to serve the children of our churches through her ministry of VBS each summer. She has not allowed deep sorrow to derail her service to our Savior. “Despite the uncertainties and challenges we have encountered in Haiti, despite the chaos and confusion, Jesus has called us to stand firm and be the salt and light of the world. Two essential parts of the Children’s Outreach Ministry are hosted in the summer and December. Youth from several churches in the community of Berard gather together for VBS. The objective is to have an impact on their lives by preaching and ministering the gospel to them.” Guerline Lucien |
College Susan Schuenke, which has operated for 22 years, is our K-12 Christian school considered one of the best schools in Northern Haiti. Our goal is to provide students a Christian world view coupled with a rigorous academic study. We enroll about 900 students this year. The student’s motto is “Ad Astra,” which means “reach for the stars!” Many graduate and go on to college, learn a skill, and return to Haiti. We believe this generation will change Haiti. |
Read what one student who was sponsored through our scholarship program has to say:“I am Rose Guerline AMBROISE. I am one of the beneficiaries of the “College Susan SCHUENKE” sponsorship program from NS1 to NS4. I thank my sponsor for helping my parents and me during this time. May God bless and protect you. Now, I am going to college to study nursing.” Rose exemplifies the students CSS is educating. |
A message from our Sr. missionary/overseer for VOHM, Pastor Caleb Lucien:“We want to take a moment to send out a quick update in the midst of current struggles. Vision of Hope Ministries (VOHM) stands as a beacon of hope and compassion, dedicated to uplifting the community, especially during trying moments like these. This past week has seen terrible eruptions of violence in the capital limiting many people’s efforts to travel. Despite the chaos surrounding us, we remain steadfast in our mission to empower individuals through education and church community. Through every challenge, we find new opportunities to spread HIS message of resilience and salvation, reinforcing our commitment to transforming lives and nurturing hope. The schools are open in Northern Haiti as are the churches Caleb pastors and oversees.” |
Recalling what God has done through VOHM over the past 30 years makes me rejoice. We stand strong endure and press on as Paul admonishes:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Phil 3:14 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, Rom 5:3-4 The high road is hard, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.Will you continue to stand with and support VOHM? We need you. We are not leaving or forsaking our Haitian family. We are so very thankful that you support and stand with us in Northern Haiti. Greg Schuenke President VOHM, Inc. |
